Rosacea Symptoms
The so-called "red face" or facial erythema is a much more common in women than in men. There are patients who have gone to several dermatologists and do not usually tolerate much facial treatment, medical and cosmetics that are prescribed.
Often report that makeup cannot tolerate and sometimes not even water, with a feeling of dry skin, redness and burning, sometimes made worse by exposure to sunlight, besides the emotional component is also important and accompanying with great frequency in these patients.
Rosacea is a chronic persistent facial redness, typically occurs in people between 30 to 60 years but now can occur even in the teenage years.
There are outbreaks of facial redness or flushing is marked, facial burning sensation and intolerance to most topical products. Sometimes this feeling is described as pain in the skin (facial erythrodysesthesia).
Symptoms associated with each stage are:
- Initial phase: a temporary redness on the cheeks and nose.
- Second stage: the blush is more intense and longer disappears easily, a bright red appearance in the cheeks and nose, with fine dilated veins.
- Third stage: are beads or papules and pustules on the cheeks, forehead, chin and nose. In men may have swelling and redness of the tip of the nose called rhinophyma. There is often associated with irritation of the eyes with inflammation of the meibomian glands in the eyelids.
