What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a common condition characterized by redness of the face, acne-like lesions and may even distort the nose. This condition is seen in adulthood most often between 30 and 50.

It comes in white skinned people predominate in women. It is characterized by redness initially easy to the cheeks, chin, forehead, nose and occasionally chest or back.

As the disease progresses the redness is persistent with the appearance of fine blood vessels. It gives an acne-like rash, but this does not have pimples. Half of the patients may have red eyes. In the later stages produces growth of the nose, chin, cheeks or eyelids, causing alteration in the self-esteem.

Among the factors that may aggravate the condition are the use of cortisone ointments, medications, sun, heat, cold and windy, hot or spicy food. Also increase some cosmetics, alcohol, exercise, stress and spices such as chile, salsa, pepper and mustard, experts agree.

Although it is unclear what causes the disease, preventive measures are of prime importance, such as: identifying aggravating factors to suppress, facial cleansing with gentle cleansers without scrubbing the skin excessively, use warm water, avoiding certain cosmetic products containing alcohol, menthol, peppermint, eucalyptus and fragrances.

Members of the FMD suggest curbing the use of creams, hot drinks, spicy foods, heat, or steam saunas, fireplaces, chimneys, furnaces, sun, stress, strenuous exercise.
